God has gained another angel with the passing of Alda Do Espirito Santo Rego, age 84, beloved wife of David Tavares Rego for 65 years. She was born to the late Manuel Souza and Isabel Gaspar in Sao Miguel, Azores.
Alda lived in Bermuda for 11 years, before immigrating to Pawtucket, Rhode Island for 42 years. She will be forever missed by her children Naomi (John) Buckley, Eulalia Maria (Napoleon) DaGraca, Louis Rego, Alda (James) Hernandez, Clarisse (Robert) Wood, preceded in death by daughters Margaret and Susie. Treasured by her grandchildren Chico, David, James Jr. (Emily), Naomi (Jose), Jaime (Abner), Sean, Aubrey, Jeremy (Nicole), Amber, Brianna, Amara, Anthony, George, Trevor (Amanda), Quinn, Sabrina, and Oliver; sister of Mariazinha, Guiomar and Susanna. She also leaves behind 20 great grandchildren, friends and family, special cousins Clarisse Smethurst of Bermuda, Margarida Manuel of Canada, Margarida Cabral of Somerset, MA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her siblings Manuel, Matilde, and Suzette.
Our family was fortunate to have our mom in our lives for all these years. It has been said that "The greatest gift parents can give to their children is a lifetime filled with happy memories." She was the kindest person with the biggest heart.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St Teresa's Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. (Colors may be worn) Interment will follow the service at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd, Providence, RI.
The family requests that people make donations in support of American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society in lieu of sending flowers.
